Apple iPhone Developer Acceptances Confirmed

March 20th, 2008

iphone_developers.jpgThere hasn’t been many reports of acceptance into the iPhone developer program since it’s announcement, with apple rejecting many of the applicants.

It seems that the first batch of acceptances has now gone through and in doing so has opened up some more details about the developer program.

  • The program is firewalled, so you’ll have to be authorized to get access to Apple’s documentation and support site.
  • Software can be put on a maximum of five iPhones using the authorised SDK, so there won’t be any way to distribute legit software other than through Apple.
  • Allegedly, the pre-release of the upcoming iPhone OS kills the device’s phone functionality, although this has yet to be confirmed for sure.

In terms of who gets accepted into the program there appears to have been a randomn cutoff point of entry, in which randomn users were then selected into the dev program.
