The new 27” Core i7 is possibly the baddest machine that Apple has put out, and has a pretty reasonable price tag on.  It does however have a few issues popping up.  The guys over at Engadget.com seem to have gotten a bum i7 that just will not boot.  They took a look around the forums and boards, and this doesn’t seem to be an isolated incident.  There are apparently a few people out there that have received DOA i7’s or i7’s that have a cracked screen, or the salted wound of a DOA machine AND a crack in the screen.  It seemed to be a 1 in 3 issue for them.  They had an i7 shipped to them to review that ran like a top, and their editor also had zero issues.  I guess it is going to be a roll of the dice.  Just remember 1 in 3.  That is a 33% chance that the gift you are getting for yourself your wife might turn that smile upside down when she tries to fire it up.  You had better cover yourself and do a little testing of your own first.
