Today, federal judge denied AT&T’s plea to have Verizon’s commercials pulled from the air. The gloves have officially come off! AT&T is bringing out the big guns now! Their new commercial is a direct blow to the mouth of “The Company That Starts With ‘V.’” Aaaaannndd, they have brought in the celebrity endorsement of Luke Wilson, and coupled it with a vaguely familiar tune as that of “New Soul” by Yeal Naim, that appeared on many a Apple commercials, hinting at the exclusivity deal that they have with Apple for the iPhone. This makes me wonder what the future holds for the time when that deal supposedly comes to an end in the first quarter of 2010. Will AT&T fight tooth and nail to keep it? Also, is Verizon even worried about trying to get an Apple based phone now that they have seen so much success with the Droid?
They took a straight shot to Verizon with this one. I have a feeling that the AT&T/Verizon feud is only going to get better. Can you say Hatfield–McCoy feud, or Capone–Moran, or maybe East Coast-West Coast Rap Rivalry is a little more accessible. In any regard, it is going to be one for the ages!
