Prevent iPhoto from opening when iPhone is connected

November 19th, 2007

For you Mac users out there: it can be frustrating and very annoying when you connect your iPhone to your computer and iPhoto launches. Yes, the iPhone is a camera. However, nine times out of ten I won’t be importing pictures from my phone.
If you want to do away with iPhoto always popping up, follow [...]

More free iPhone content from Jamster

November 19th, 2007

I have never heard of Jamster before but I guess they are pretty big across the pond in good old England. Anyway I hear that if you want lots of free content like music, videos, and extra movie content Jamster is now letting iPhone users have it for free at www.jamster.co.uk.
I guess they are [...]

Voicemail troubles without data

November 17th, 2007

This seems to be becoming a series. A series on life without an iPhone data plan. No, it’s not all that bad. It’s pretty cheap, too.
Well, today marks the day of my new billing cycle. And the first without Visual Voicemail. So, knowing this wouldn’t work, I tried to call voicemail like all other phones [...]

Put your iPhone in disk mode

November 16th, 2007

One common complaint of the iPhone (among many) is that there is no way to use it as an external disk. Almost all iPods have the feature to be used in disk mode, but for some reason it is missing from the iPhone.
This can also be useful for getting songs from your iPhone if you [...]

Prevent ridiculous internet charges

November 16th, 2007

It seems my article on removing the data plan from your iPhone has sparked controversy (and popularity.)
If you disabled EDGE (like I explained previously), you didn’t get rid of all internet, you just got rid of paying for the internet.
By default, you are placed on a pay-by-the-kilobyte data plan. No one wants that. Accidental weather [...]

November 16th, 2007

A few days ago google announced its android 10 million dollar challenge. This contest is designed to get as many useful and unique third party user apps out as possible and also may be the first step in google releasing their own internet phone. However Apple enthusiasts should not really fear this, they [...]

Don’t need data? Remove it.

November 15th, 2007

I’m not sure if this is a mistake on AT&T’s part or not, but the option to remove your iPhone data plan is now available. Previously, this was something you could not change.
Benefits do doing something like this is that you wouldn’t pay $20 (or more) for data if you don’t enjoy EDGE or use [...]

Charging with an onion

November 14th, 2007

Yes, that’s right, you can charge your iPhone with an onion (and some gatorade, too.)
This is an amazingly cool video that shows just how you can do this (the video uses an iPod, but it’ll work just fine with your iPhone)
Check out the video here.

Spotlight search on the iPhone?

November 14th, 2007

I came across an interesting article at AppleInsider. It claims that the iPhone will have the Spotlight feature (easy to access search found in Apple’s Mac OS) in an upcoming firmware update in early 2008.
I think that’d be a nice feature to have. Easily find contacts, music, emails, etc. I would definitely use this if [...]
