Apple iPhone News

Codename: iPhone 3,5

There have been some traces of a mythical beast popping up in the San Fran area.  This beast is appears to be a new sort of iPhone.  Apple HQ is located in the San Fran area, so it might be that Mr. Jobs may be sporting the latest in iPhonery about town.

With the help of PinchMedia, an analytics application that itemizes customer usage down to the specific devises that are being toted about, the footprints of a phone called “iPhone 3,5” were spotted due to the usage of an app called iBART, a public transit guide for the San Francisco train system.  The “iPhone 3,5” identifier does not match up to any of the phones that have shipped from Apple.  The most recent iPhone to make it into the hands of John Q. Public runs with the identification string “iPhone 2,1.”  This sighting of the strange new phone is reminiscent of the iPhone 3GS, which dons the “iPhone 2,1” tag that was sighted about 8 months before it’s release.

According to sources, a few rumors about the new phone include a multi-core processor, and potential Verizon compatibility mid 2010-ish.  We will keep your ears to the ground for new information.

Thanks to Macrumors.com for the heads up.
