Debitel makes a smart move

You know how T-Mobile was forced to offer an unlocked version of the iPhone in Germany for a ridiculously high price? Well, the GSM carrier Debitel has taken advantage of this.Here’s how: T-Mobile sells you the (unlocked) iPhone for €999, but then Debitel will offer you a €600 sign-up bonus if you bring along your iPhone. Thus, the price for using the iPhone is the same for either carriers, it’s €399.Good idea, Debitel. If only this would happen here in the States… [via Engadget Mobile]
