DLO HipCase

I purchased the DLO HipCase at launch, because I really like the horizontal belt pouch cases, and it looked decent enough.

Well, it's been just a bit over 2.5 weeks now, and I am not too pleased with it. The leather around the belt clip has torn loose, revealing the quite sharp metal clip to the world, and to the inside of my previously unscratched leather belt.




So today, I emailed DLO - and I have to admit - a 10 minute turnaround for email support is rather impressive.

There have been 3 email exchanges, they went like this:

Hey, this is broke. What do I do?
You have 30 days to return it to retailer, or 90 days with us.
Okay. Don't have package or receipt, so I guess I return it to you. How?
Send it and your receipt back to us. We'll replace it.
Umm. Just said I don't have the receipt.
Just print out this email with me saying it's okay. It'll do in place of receipt.

I'm going to call my local AT&T store (where I purchased my iPhone - and I just realized - I DO have the receipt.. it's in my iPhone box. durrr. ) and see if they'll swap it out for me instead of me mailing it back and being without a case for 1-2 weeks.

So, I guess my review of this case is mixed. It does very well at holding the iPhone, and the materials SEEM to be high quality, but this issue with the clip's leather leaves me feeling somewhat disappointed.

I got the same one and have had no problems, that's good to know though. Sometimes it can get akward getting my iPhone out of it while sitting, like when driving.

DLO have brought out a couple new styles for their holster range - brown leather and black nylon.

Dang it! I woulda bought the nylon one if they'd have had it out at launch.
