Problems with My Iphone 2g 8GB Model

i got problems with my iphone.
My problem is that some parts of the screen doesnt respond to my finger or anything else for that madder.
Its about 2cm wide and a cross the screen. I´ve heard that the iphones screen isnt a normal touch screen, its like sensors in the side or something that snaps up my finger touching it. Could it be some of them that got broken somehow? and if so where can i find such a thing?

its not working at all, i´ve tried reseting it and everything

take it to a apple genius at the apple store it might be time for you to upgrade to the 3g and also it might be b/c you dropped it a bunch of times it will mess with the sensors inside the phone... its a very delicate phone
