Hi,

My friend gave me his old first generation iphone, and it won't seem to connect to my home wifi.

I entered all the information into the respective location: IP address, subnet mask, router, DNS, and checked the "Static" tab, as that's the kind of internet we have. I then entered the encryption key when it prompted me for the password.

It sees the network and I assume it's connected to it, but it won't load anything --- safari, my apps, or email. I'm quite unsure what to do.

I am still in 2.0, would it help if I upgraded? I'm really computer illiterate, so please dumb it down a bit for me. Thanks.

Upgrade to the latest firmware maybe 3.0 and then re-do it then .That should do it.

Yes you have to update it to the latest firmware. Don't forget to back up all your data. Otherwise you will loose all those. Hope your problem can be fixed through this way. Enjoy your iphone with wifi & let us know did it worked or not.

My problem's different from Sirbakaro's. I have the latest software and my phone has no trouble connecting to any of the non-passworded networks in my apartment building. The trouble is it now doesn't want to connect to mine. Used to join my home network automatically, but now asks for a password -- and even when I enter the correct one, won't let me join. How can I get it to join my own home network automatically again? Thanks for your help.

Have you changed the Access Point settings recently?

Read suggestion on another forum to disconnect and then reconnect the router. Tried it and now iPhone wi-fi is working properly. Thanks to all.
