Hello, this is my 1st post on here but I figured someone may be able to help me out.
I bought an iPhone online from Apple and just got it today. I plugged it into iTunes
and went through the whole activation process until I got to the
Credit Check part. I'm young so my Credit wasn't approved.
I went into an AT&T store and explained my situation.
They ran a credit check on me and made me deposit $150 in exchange
for a Credit Check Number.

So when I go back to iTunes to activate this phone it says

"We are unable to verify your pre-approved check code. Please verify that the billing zip code and/or
SSN entered match those provided at the time of your pre-approved credit check and try again"

Well I called up the AT&T store that gave me the number they told me everything was all set on their side and
verified the zip code and SSN I gave them.

So my question is has anyone else had a problem with their Credit check Number not working?
I'm really dreading calling up customer service and was hoping someone may have the answer. Thanks.

In this situation your best bet is to call the local store and see if you can activate it there or call an apple store and ask to activate it there. The Cingular store will be your best bets however since it is there end that is not working. That way they can see face to face that it is on their part and just not you calling in. The CSR on the phone really is not that bad, better than other companies such as dell and a few others.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I ended up talking to someone from the iPhone Activation Support Line and they told me to go into the AT&T store as it is something wrong on their side, just like you said.

So I went in there and they said they couldn't activate my iPhone in their store but they could check to see why my Credit Code wasn't working. All my info checked out and apparently everything was okay on their side. Now they didn't know what the problem was so they got on the phone with some people and found out that there has been problems across the country in the past few days with the same exact issues and they're working to fix it. The AT&T guy said that it should be fixed by tonight (9/14) and if not then I should call 1-800-MYIPHONE.

If this is happening to people across the country how come I can't find anyone else with this problem? Anyways, thanks for the help and hopefully AT&T and/or Apple will get their act together quickly so I'm not stuck with this $400 paperweight.
