No, when you activate it with iTunes it will ask you want to use an existing account or make a new one. Choose to use your own and it will cancel your data plan and let you choose an iPhone data plan. Your voice plan and number stay the same.

so there is no way to just pop in your own cingular sim card and have it working? i have a company phone plan and its not my option to upgrade the plan or add 2 more years to the contact. I have buy an unlocked iphone will that work?.. i read somewhere that a iphone has to be activated in order to have it unlock right?

thanks.

Let me test it for you I will have you a answer this afternoon I will switch sims with my girl to see. As for it being activated before use this is true button can put it on a go plane which is prepaid to activate it. Then put in your company sims. If that works you will not have visual voicemail or youtube. I think those are the only two things that will be missing.
