So what do we currently know about the iPhones web browser?

Well according to the Keynote at 1:02:00 Jobs says "We have Safari running on the iPhone". And he talks about it being a "fully functioning" web browser and "not a WAP browser".

But is a full Safari browser possible on the iphone? That would surely come complete with Java, Flash, embedded video, and RSS.

Also does anyone have any info on text entry? is it possible to pull up the keypad at any point during the input process?

I don't think the browser will support Java, and Flash is currently an unknown also.

I very much want to see Flash available within the Safari.

Java I am sure will be, as supposedly the 'application support' I've been seeing touted in some sites is Java-based.
