No 'over the air' iTunes support?

I think not having the capability to download songs from the itunes library over the internet direct to the iphone is a huge mistake.

I take my ipod with me wherever i go, business, family visits etc and dont always have access to my home itunes install.

The abbility to login into itunes and download directly to the device would be just what i need. When i first heard about the iphone i thought this feature would be a no-brainer, but sadly that's not the case!

Is anyone else a little disappointed?

It is a little disappointing - and it really kinda cripples them compared to VZCast, or any other "Get it Now" services.

However, I am not surprised. It's how the iPod is, and I think they weren't thinking about that when it was being developed.

If nothing else, I would like the capabilty to connect to my (more importantly, a friends) stereo and stream music to it wirelessly like I do with the laptop now. Or perhaps I can, and I am missing something in the menus?
