I have a question about SMS. Can you send texts to people who dont't have SMS? Can you still send multimedia messages to other people?

Any phone that supports MMS supports SMS, but not necessarily the other way around. So no, you can't send a SMS to a phone that doesn't support SMS, because it has no texting capability.
The iPhone only supports SMS, not MMS, according to the Cingular training manual. Which means you can't send (and quite possibly receive) MMS. -eric |

Well that's GAY. We're paying $500-$600 for a phone that won't even be able to send text to our friends?!?! They better have an option to change it...

No, read, it DOES support SMS. It DOES NOT support MMS. You can send txts, but you cannot send multimedia (unless it's over email).

Oh, so we can still send texts to people who have normal phones, like RAZRs, Blackjacks, SYNCs, etc?

Ok, that's fine then. But do they have to change their text settings before they can get a text from an iPhone? Or does it just work like normal text?

It'll just show up like normal text to them.

I was never a fan of MMS and am glad to see it fazed out with more focus on email, it's a nice move by Apple.
