Can't Connect to OpenSSH

I cant seem to connect to OpenSSH.

I've installed BSD 2.1 and OpenSSH 4.6p1-2 on firmware 1.1.4 on an iPhone 2G.
Wifi is enabled (since I am successfully able to use it to connect to my mail accounts, Safari, etc.), and I have the correct IP address.
When I try to connect (using any client - WinSCP, Putty, whatever), it always says "Connection timed out".

I installed the Services app and it shows SSH as "on" (and I can turn it off and on as needed), but cannot connect to OpenSSH using a Windows client.

Any suggestions?

Turned out the problem was because of VPN. My machine was running a VPN client that was connected to a remote server.

As soon as I shut down the VPN connection, I was able to connect to the iPhone using OpenSSH.
