Steve jobs did touch on this briefly in the iphone keynote, the iphone will support widgets but it's believed that these will be special iphone widgets and npt the same as the mac's for example.

I'd really like to see a good developer base for the iphone, widgets and other apps. I just hope Apple dont close it off too much.

If the iPhone does use a version of Mac OS X Leopard with widget support (which i think it will since all of the features were described in the keynote) then people should be able to install widgets into their iPhone. Provided that the barriers in place are bypassed. It would be good to see widgets running on the iPhone. It would make it quite feature unlimited then.

The answer is Yes and No. Currently it depends on whether or not the widget requires plugins on the desktop. If it requires plugins, then it most likely will not run.
