My current Nokia cellphone allows me to pair with a laptop device and use the phone as like a modem to allow my laptop to access the internet.
I've been looking over the iphone specs and cant seem to find a mention of such a feature? anyone know for sure? |

the technology is definitely there, i guess it depends on AT&T but im sure not having this feature will impact sales especially overseas.

According to page 1 of this MacWorld Article:
"One thing Apple did tell us is that you won’t be able to use the iPhone as a wireless Bluetooth modem for a laptop on the road, for example (at least that’s the current plan)" I certainly hope the "current plan" changes. While not a major strike for me on this one, it's certainly hurts. No 3G, no modem-ness, no 3rd party apps.. (all supposedly, I know, but...) |

If its not a standard feature it will be added by hackers at some point in time (just like the apple tv).
It wont take long for people to exploit that kind of thing. |

Thanks for that Kender, that is a little disappointing but hopefully given some time they'll be a way of implementing this.
Guess it's a 'wait and see' thing ![]() |

A full browser running on EDGE isn't a very good idea.

The Bluetooth on the iPhone is completely useless when paired with a Mac. The iPhone is only programed to interact with Bluetooth accessories such as a headset. At this current point in time it seems impossible to pair the iPhone with a computer to use as a modem.
