Questions About Iphone Unlocking...

Hi,

i am considering buying an iphone, but after looking at the cost of At&t, i started reading about unlocking iphones. this brought up some questions.

I dont need a lot of minutes, and I dont need access to internet anywhere. i just want to be able to access internet in areas with wifi networks. will unlocking an iphone let me save money? what do you reccomend as the best course of action based on my needs?

-if i unlock an iphone, can I use it with any provider, and any plan? or do i need an internet plan?
-will all the other features still work?
-could I use the sim card out of another cell phone and continue that plan? would i still be able to use the other features?
-what are the hidden costs associated with the at&t plan and what are the hidden costs associated with using another plan
-would i be better off getting a cheap cell phone and an Ipod touch, and not worrying about all this?

i have unlocked my iphone with the help of rebel simcard.

it works fine. i suggest you to use rebel sim card to unlock your iphone.
