The process enables iTunes to take a complete snapshot of the iPhone applications you have installed along with the application documents and library data. If you are desperate for a solution to cut the waiting time then the only real option you are left with is to disable the backup process entirely. The instructions below walk you through how to do that, but please note that this is a risky option as it will mean you will no longer have a phone backup to restore you iPhone to in the future - should you need to. This hack (for Mac) below will change a hidden setting in the iTunes preferences that will force it to skip the backup process.

Is there a similar hack for the PC version of iTunes?
Thanks, Mike |

cool, but I'm pretty sure waiting for the phone to backup is worth the wait, but I could always be wrong
