iPhone 3G to land in 20 more countriesApple had big plans to be global and have the iPhone 3G available in 70 countries by the end of 2009. According to macword it's only in 25 countries right now. During yesterdays quarterly conference call, Tim Cook mentioned that beginning August 22nd 2009 Apple will get a little closer to the goal of 70 by shipping the iphone 3G to 20 additional countries. With demand dropping off for the 3G and increasing for the new 3GS, Apple finally has the production to fill the need around the world.

15 of the countries that will have the phone available include:

  • 1. India on Bharti Airtel and Vodafone
  • 2. The Czech Republic on O2
  • 3. Estonia on EMT
  • 4. Poland on Orange and Era
  • 5. Romania on Orange
  • 6. Philippines on Globe Telecom
  • 7. Hungary on T-Mobile
  • 8. Argentina on Telkefonica
  • 9. Chile on Telkefonica
  • 10. Colombia on Telkefonica
  • 11. Ecuador on Telkefonica
  • 12. El Salvador on Telkefonica
  • 13. Guatemala on Telkefonica
  • 14. Peru on Telkefonica and America Movil
  • 15. Uruguay on Telefonica and America Movil


[UPDATE] Last minute reports from Reuters indicate that Singapore could also be on that list.
