The guys over at automatic filmmaker have put together a great technical guide on iPhone 3GS video recording. The iPhone 3GS is put up against the Flip MinoHD for video recording comparison.
The website also includes a wishlist of features that they would like to see included for the video recording, noting that most of the improvements (aside from High Definition functionality) could be added by means of a software update.
iPhone 3GS video wishlist:
- Full manual exposure. Maybe this is possible for third party developers with the API
- Manual focus -- being able to input a focus distance.
- Ability to change focus while recording. Being able to program pull focus would be great.
- Apps! Something that allows you to cut clips, add titles/effects in the phone!
- And the obivious one, HD.
