iPhone 1.1.4 Users Experiencing Battery Life Issues

March 3rd, 2008

iphone.jpgSeveral iPhone owners are reporting battery life issues after upgrading to the latest iPhone firmware 1.1.4.

Many users are experiencing shorter usage times reportedly around 10-15% less capacity in most cases. A cause for the battery drain is being put down to a supposed bug fix in 1.1.4 that affects how the iPhone behaves in fringe areas - areas with fluctuating signal strengths.

If you’re experiencing any battery related issues since making the upgrade to 1.1.4 be sure to drop us a message in the comments.

I have had my iphone since the 2nd day… well this is my 4th one.. my first 3 had issues and brought them in for a new one… but as far as i could remember though.. my battery was alright in the beginning before this update.. but i have recentley though been realizing that my battery just dies alot faster.. Im sure everyone else has to charge there’s every night like i do.. but now im to a point where it amy not even last throughout the day if im not careful how much i may use it… so i have to carry around my charger with me in the car or somethin… it does suck… in a way i wouldnt mind a little thicker of a phone for more battery.. cause its a pain when it runs out and u really need to use it…

I would agree with the 10-15% life decrease. My phone has yet to live a full day since the update.

Yes, I agree. After upgrading to 1.1.4, my battery does not last the usual 2-days anymore. The iPhone just dies in 1-day, not even completing the day.

Yes, same problem here. Updated to 1.1.4 three days ago, and since I’m on the phone +/- 20 minutes each hour, my phone is empty within half a day!!!

i did upgrade my 8Giga Iphone to 1.1.4 , every thing is ok , many bugs never come back , but many apps didn’t work with 1.1.4 , about battery , just 8 hours in standby mode , it’s very bad , i don’t know why , but it’s true ,
i hope they can fix this asap .

Over the past few days I have noticed a significant decrease in battery life. I had my phone in standby for just over 8 hrs while I was at work (I used it only to wake up, with my alarm that day) and when I looked at it after that time, the battery was already half drained. No exaggerations.

Anyone found a solution yet? Mine doesn’t make it through the day either anymore. It was fine on 1.1.3.

    Same Problem here.

Upgraded yesteraday, and after six hours the battery is already half drained. :s

I noticed the battery was draining faster than it used. Today I did not use my phone as much as I usually do…but the battery is 25% lower than it should.

I think with normal use my battery won’t last a whole day!

Since my 1.1.4 upgrade my battery life has decreased from 2 days (with battery life remaining) between charges to 1 day (0% life) between charges.

    Same problem for me too…

Since my 1.1.4 upgrade from 1.1.1, my battery life has decreased dramatically, about 36 hours between charges.

It happened to me also; my phone battery drains faster after update to 1.1.4.
Can anybody help whats the problem and how to overcome it

Just upgraded from 1.1.2 to 1.1.4. The battery life is terrible. It totally drained at around 5pm with overnight charge. (1 short phone call)

Before the update it last a whole day no problem, sometime last 2 days.

    Hmm might try 1.1.3
