RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)- Enabled iPhone Could Offer Object & Facial Recognition, Messaging, and Voice Modulation.
Back in July, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office published several dozen Apple patent applications related to Apple software. What does this mean for the future of the iPhone? How about phones used as credit cards, object recognition, an ID card, or even a car key!
One of the patents described methods for iPhone users to detect objects via camera, RFID sensor or other ways, and ultimately having their device automatically identify and provide additional info on the object. The graphic shown below is a cited art museum example:

The user has taken a photo of a piece of art and the RFID has identified it as “Sunrise”, an impressionist piece by Monet. From the graphic above, this user could see more of Monet’s Art, learn about Impressionism, and link away to additional relevant articles. Not shown in the above graphic, the user might also engage in an audio tour of other works by further Impressionist artists.
