iPhone flop or not in Europe?

November 13th, 2007

So now that the iPhone has released in Europe with a great deal of fan fare and hype, was it actually that big a thing?  Remember that in the US some 200,000 units of the iPhone were sold in the first week of its release.  However reports coming back from both T-Mobile and 02 are much less robust with both claiming around 10k units sold in the first twenty four hours.  However does this mean that the iPhone was a total flop?

Well I guess that depends on what you mean by flop.  If anyone actually expected to see sales figures anywhere close to those in the US I think that you would have to say it was.  Yet when looking at Europe as being a much different market than the US (I know hard to believe but while we all share similar DNA we are totally different cultures) these figures are actually about what I expected.  So in all honestly I think the iPhone did well for itself over in Europe and expect to see sales figures stay fairly solid over there.
