Java Virtual Machine Coming To iPhone

Sun Microsystems have unveiled plans to produce a Java Virtual Machine for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch.
The Java Virtual Machine will be based on the Java Micro Edition (ME) and ported over using the announced Apple SDK. The Sun software will allow the iPhone and Touch devices to run Java Applets and will be available around Juneof this year.
Eric Klein, vice president of marketing:
“Once our JVM is on the phone, we anticipate that a large number of Java applications would run on the phone,” Klein said. “We’re going to make sure that the JVM offers the Java applications as much access to the native functionality of the iPhone as possible.”
