Amazon has today announced that their Kindle for iPhone App is now available from the iTunes App Store in over 60 countries. Until today, the portable reader App was only available in North America. Featuring Amazon’s Whispersync technology, the App saves and synchronizes your bookmarks on all your Kindle devices and cross- platform applications, including Kindle for PC.
“We’re excited to make the Kindle for iPhone App available to iPhone and iPod Touch users in more than 60 countries, allowing them to access the vast selection of the most popular books, all available wirelessly from the Kindle Store,” said Ian Freed, vice president, Amazon Kindle. “The Kindle for iPhone App is a great way for customers around the world to download and read books even if they don’t yet have a Kindle.”
However, as Wired.com and several other sites have pointed out, the App is still only localized in English, so only English-speakers in those 60-plus countries will be able to use it at the moment.
The Kindle App for iPhone and iPod Touch is available for free from the iTunes App Store.
