The cavalcade of classic games being rejuvenated and reinvigorated for a whole new generation on the iPhone/iPod touch is showing no signs of abating I’m glad to say, and today Konami has announced that it's bringing another bona fide classic to the Apple handhelds with Frogger Inferno.

In Frogger Inferno, players must employ the time-honoured dodge-and-move tactics to get Frogger safely across the road to his home marsh, avoiding all the hazards that are placed in his way, including cars, trucks, and alligators. Most gamers should know the drill blindfolded by now, and Frogger Inferno is pretty much classic Frogger business as usual in that respect, but Konami has decided to make this brand new version of the game even more difficult by  having Frogger leave a trail of fire behind him wherever he hops, so that he can’t double back. Facebook functionality has also been added to the iPhone game, with players being able to compete and compare scores with friends using Facebook Connect.

Frogger Inferno is available now from the iTune App Store for a bargain $0.99.
