Them smart folk over in Kentucky have made it possible for you to be able to unlock your computer with just the mere presence of the contents of your pocket.  That is right, they have written an app that will allow the presence of your iPhone to unlock your computer without you making a keystroke.  Airlock uses the Bluetooth of your computer and your phone to make contact and commune to unlock your computer.  The downside is that you will be running the Bluetooth all the time, and thusly running your batteries down that much faster, but at the same time, you won’t have to remember any passwords (except when you lose your phone, forget your phone, forget to charge your phone, leave your phone in the kitchen...  You get the picture).

In the unlikely event that you responsible young people who can’t be troubled to input a few keystrokes forget your fully charged phone in the other room where you are preparing a healthy vegetarian meal while you run in to the computer room to check a recipe online, there is hope.  You can still input a password to open your computer.  The app utilizes a preference pane that will allow you to set your own parameters, a distance range that will trigger your “Away” status to the computer, as well as activities that will consider you “Here” and “Away.”
