Microsoft Contemplating Developing iPhone Applications

In a recent interview with Fortune, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President of Specialized Devices and Applications Group, Tom Gibbons, revealed that they are indeed considering the possibilities of developing applications for the iPhone:
“It’s really important for us to understand what we can bring to the iPhone. To the extent that customers have functionality that they need in that environment, we’re actually in the process of trying to understand that now.”
Microsoft are currently still getting comfortable with the newly release iPhone Software Development Kit, with the article suggesting that Microsoft may be interested in developing an application through the voice recognition unit ‘TellMe’ which the software giant acquired back in 2007.
“If the SDK supports these things,” said general manager Mike McCue, “we’re absolutely going to get a version out there as soon as we can, get TellMe out there on the iPhone.”
