Official Formula One Game Speeds Onto iPhone and iPod Touch

I kinda like the way they’re getting these top console games so quickly onto the iPhone these days. Just a month or so after the first official Formula One game for several years hit the Nintendo Wii and PSP, Codemasters has announced that a version of it will be available in the App Store from next week. There are already several popular F1 information and news Apps on the store, so it makes perfect sense to get a game out there where fans can actually race as all their heroes from the 2009 season. And all this is happening while PS3 and Xbox 360 owners still have to wait until sometime next year to get their F1 fix!

F1 2009 features all 10 teams , 20 drivers and 17 circuits from the 2009 Formula One World Championship, which was just won by British driver Jenson Button. Judging by these screenshots, the visuals are as stunning as the press release would have us believe. Players will be able to experience how it feels to burn rubber around all of the official circuits that they’ve become so familiar with on TV, including the historic Silverstone in the UK, the glitzy and glamorous Monaco street circuit, and the amazing Singapore night circuit.

The game has two different modes that pit the player against the clock: Time Trial and Endurance. Time Trial has the player trying to set the fastest flying lap possible at their chosen circuit, while in Endurance the player tries to set the best average lap time possible over 6, 9 or 12 laps. You can then upload your flying laps and average lap times to the global AGON Online Social Platform Leaderboard and compare your times with other racers around the world.
