With the start of the 2010 Formula 1 season just around the corner with the Bahrain Grand Prix upcoming this weekend, lots of F1 apps in the Apple iTunes App Store are being upgraded or released in new and improved versions. With some of the apps being quite expensive, it’s refreshing to see that Infindo’s F1 2010, which is one of the apps that seems to have high user approval ratings on the store, is also currently one of the cheapest, at $1.99/£1.79/€2.39, although this is a “70% off” limited-edition offer, so you’ll have to be quick snapping it up. I’m always fascinated to see the inventive methods that games and app companies come up with to kill off zombies because they all know we love killing those zombies! Today’s tip of the hat goes to Promethium Marketing Group and UK development studio GrinLock, the team behind Tweet Defense, which is a game that combines Twitter stats and zombie killing to make a unique Tower Defense game. The game features 10 levels, 5 zombie types, including the viral marketing zombie and zombie twins Gu and Ga, and 6 tower types, including the unique BOOSTER tower that enables you to use Twitter ... • Out Today: Silent Hunter – Get it While It’s Cheap! 2 CommentsPosted by MauraS on March 8th, 2010 at 6:58 pm under iPhone Games
Ubisoft’s classic U-boat sim finally makes it onto the Apple iPhone and iPod touch for the first time, and it’s looking very impressive indeed! The game features an ‘immersive’ (no pun intended!) single-player campaign, with an original story set in WWII. There are 12 missions in total to complete as a rookie captain performing routine intercept messages for the German Navy, and you can also opt to engage other convoys that you randomly encounter. Also featured is a Survival Mode, where your task is to defend the NBB Bismark against wave after wave of attacking enemies. Players ... Read More

Anyone that goes to any sort of live gig or concert these days will have probably noticed that where once there would be a sea of lighters held aloft, now there’s a sea of mobile phones and digital camera. This has prompted the BIC lighter people to come up with a really cute free concert lighter app for Apple iPhone and Apple iPod touch, which can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store. This is what Mark Funderburk, associate brand manager – Lighters, BIC Consumer Products USA (who should be a rock star himself with a name like that), had to say about the app: “Users can ... • Netflix Planning to Launch on iPhone? 0 CommentsPosted by MauraS on March 5th, 2010 at 5:52 pm under iPhone Rumors
A Netflix news blog called Hacking Netflix has published a story suggesting that NetFlix is planning to launch its movie and TV streaming service on the iPhone. According to the report, NetFlix has been surveying its customers and asking them very detailed questions about how likely they would be to watch streaming Netflix content on their iPhones (and presumably iPod touches?) via a Wi-Fi network. Clearly Netflix are thinking about bringing their streaming service to the Apple device, or why would they bother to conduct such a survey? And despite the fact that Hacking Netflix reports ... If you’ve been wondering why you didn’t see the iPhone version of the fantastic PC and PS3 game Mirror’s Edge in the iTunes Store this January as scheduled, it’s because it’s been delayed until possibly April, according to Pocket Gamer. No word from EA as to the reason for the delay, but they've released some gorgeous new screenshots just to tide us all over. If they’re spending the extra time making the game look as good as this, who’s gonna complain? For those who haven’t played previous versions of the game, it’s set in a world where information is heavily ... Read More

According to this news story on Pocket Gamer today, Gameloft will soon be releasing a Splinter Cell game for the iPhone. Pocket Gamer spotted a mysterious link on Gameloft’s Twitter page some nine hours ago, which led to a picture of Splinter Cell hero Sam Fisher with some cryptic-looking numbers underneath. The sleuths at Pocket Gamer were then able to surmise that the forthcoming Splinter Cell game the site had obviously been set up for would most likely be for the iPhone, as the cryptic numbers are actually the coordinates for Infinite Loop, Apple’s Cupertino headquarters.
