To AppleCare, or not to Applecare?
November 17th, 2007I’ve been thinking about the iPhone’s warranty lately. I’ve really taken advantage of it– I’m on my third iPhone. I noticed that for a mere (or much) $69, you can get warranty for your iPhone for another year. But is it really worth it?
One of the obvious reasons for getting is that your iPhone will be replaced for free if anything goes wrong. You’ll be able to sleep at night knowing all is well.
However, without warranty, you can hack, mod, or do whatever you want with it and nothing is voided. Also, many may complain they wasted $69 on something that wasn’t needed if nothing goes wrong.
I’ve never been much of an “extended warranty” guy myself, just to save some money. But, you could end up wishing you would have bought the $69 warranty after you find you must pay $200 to get your iPhone repaired.
