Following on from the impressive first day iPhone sales figures in the UK on the Jan 14th launch day, Vodafone has now released new figures confirming that they sold 100, 000 iPhones in total in the first week. Encouraged (to say the least!) by these massive first week numbers, Peter Kelly, enterprise director at Vodafone UK, today told V3.co.uk that Vodafone intends to place strong emphasis on the business market for Apple's iPhone, even though much of the industry regards the iPhone as more of a consumer product. Kelly tells V3.co.uk that it’s his and Vodafone’s belief that many of their customers (and potential new customers) have been waiting for the iPhone to be available on a “business-focused” network, which Vodafone most certainly is.
Kelly went on to point out Vodafone’s robust 3G infrastructure, which he said would appeal to business customers who were looking for a reliable network, especially when using business apps. He concluded by predicting that the number of business-centric apps in the i Tunes App Store would continue to expand, and that Vodafone themselves would take advantage of this by adding to their own iPhone services.
