The White House Blog has today announced that the official White House App for iPhone and iPod touch is now available as a free download from the iTunes App Store. The blog states that one of the key features of the new app is live video streaming, which enables the app user to watch live Presidential public events at the White House, including next week’s State of the Union address, as well as web chats with Administration officials, key speeches, and press briefings, all in real time.

As well as the live streaming, the app gives access to behind-the-scenes photos and watch-on-demand videos, including recent speeches in their entirety, press briefings and other special events. The app also provides you with all the up-to-the-minute official news from the White House blog and newsroom. Is it just me who thinks it’s kind of funny that iTunes has rated the White House App 12+ for “Infrequent/Mild Realistic Violence”?!
